About as opposite to what my buddies and I are about, but it's always good to learn new things. They happen to have a really badass shop in town that works on performance diesels, they also have a dyno and love the projects we're working on and we'll have one car on there next week to dial in the tuning the rest of the way, and hopefully a different project moving through at some point. Anyways... I'm sure some of you will appreciate this video of their racetruck doing a somewhat tentative pull on the dyno, anyone want to play Price is Right on how much boost it made on that run?

I'm just going to take a stab at about 90 psi. I see it's got some Fleece goodies on there, is it single or compound turbos?

Lots of Fleece going on under that hood, just about as built as you can get with one of those apparently. It's a compound setup, both are bigger than anything I've seen on anything smaller than a pro-mod car.

How close am I to the psi on that run? I know there are drag/pull trucks running over 100, and I also know there are street trucks running over 80.

Haha I was going to wait until other people guessed too, but seeing as no one cares I guess I'll spill... It pushed either 91 or 96psi on that run, making 1222HP, his goal was 1300 and he would have made it if it hadn't been for a radiator issue that kept him from doing the final run with it fully loaded up. He has some different turbo's lined up for it and is planning on shooting for 120-130psi with that setup(but it will be on a different motor).

I care. Built diesels are my thing. That also sounds beautiful. Is he using it for drag racing or tractor pulling?

You'd love these guys then, they're big Cummins fans but deal with all of them. They do drag racing, apparently are pretty big names in it now but I'd never heard of them before(although I don't usually look for stuff like that). The truck you see there was put into a wall recently and they just got it back together and have been working out the kinks. They said they have run it in the 9.70's lately.

The first diesel I ever rode in was a '97 Cummins with some fuel and boost adjustments, and I was hooked from there. Something about the seat gluing torque gets to me.

I'm going to have to get them to take me for a ride in one of theirs, between the 3 guys I think they have 4 trucks that run under 12.

You definitely should, it is an experience. That's also a lot of money in 4 trucks.

Oh, and the owner guy has a brand new RAM 1500 single cab that is getting a 6.7 Cummins in it here soon, that's gonna be his new daily. I'm not really sure where they get all the money from... haha.

That sounds amazing! It will definitely be a burnout machine.

So I take it you're in Alabama? We're in the panhandle of Florida. If you're ever over this way I'm sure they'd be happy to show you around.

Actually, east of Pensacola. I am now officially a Florida resident, with the ugly peach colored license and all.

How far east of Pensacola? I live in Destin and go to school/work in Pensacola.

Across the bridge in Milton, now. Probably Navarre in the next few months.

Nice. Do you make it out to any of the car stuff around in the area?

None so far, don't really know when stuff happens.

If you know of any, please let me know. Also, where is this diesel shop located and do you know if they are looking for a shop hand?

Ah, there's a few regularly scheduled car meets, normally not a big truck showing at any of them. I've never really been a part of that crowd but I'm sure there's some stuff going on for it, there sure are enough around here. The shop is located in Fort Walton Beach and currently they aren't looking for anyone, I actually asked him if he needed tuning help, I'm quite handy with wiring, computers, and programming.

I'm not partial to just trucks. I like anything as long as it's not boring, even then if it's practical I understand why you would own it. And damn it. I need to find some sort of job like that to continue my diesel education/experience.

Well... the usual(weekly) meets are as follows:

Saturday night: Bayfront in Pensacola(off of main and palafox)

Absolute rice fest with usual baby daddy drama and lots of people being dumb, but it is quite large most of the time with a lot of different vehicles.

Tuesday night: The Swamp in Fort Walton(on Okaloosa Island)

Really hit or miss on turnout but every now and then there's some really cool stuff, I'm almost always at that one.

Thursday night: Volkswagen/Euro get together in Crestview(at the Publix)

Pretty small european car thing, nice people and some well put together rides typically.

There's also a few classic car meets in Pensacola but I don't know where or when they happen, then there's a few really big meets a year, Rides N Tides is Navarre is alway huge, they've been trying to get this 'Royals' group together for a bunch of the hellaflush crowd and have had a few meets, a few little Cars and Coffee things have come and gone but nothing super steady yet.

I've heard about the Pensacola meet up, but I've heard basically the same thing. The others I'll have to check out if I get the chance/have the extra money. When is Rides N Tides usually? That's pretty close, which most everything listed is within 45 minutes of me.

Apparently they are doing it in Fort Walton this year... I definitely recommend going to the Pensacola one at least once, worst case you wander a street over and grab a beer once you've seen enough.

Actually it's go home beer less. :( I'm not 21. I miss my bar in Pa.

That's unfortunate, it's literally right next to the main strip of bars downtown. It's still kinda cool to at least go walk around the meet though, makes you feel way better about yourself.

Hahahaha, I get that feeling when I HAVE to go to Walmart! But that's why I feel as if there isn't much to do down here. There isn't much to do down here unless you are 21.

There's not a whole lot to do down here even once you are 21.. that's why I spend almost all of my free time in the garage working on stupid projects.

I don't have a garage and I drive my future project. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I'll have my parents old, abandoned 240 wagon to work on. Maybe.
